- Read the area name, then note the characters, mirrors, stones and goal positions on your board.
- Open the matching area on the community map. Compare the initial layout before reading a hint.
- Use a solution only when its board matches. A video’s “level 23” is not a universal puzzle identifier.
This page helps you select the right reference. It does not provide independently verified move-by-move solutions.
How to use the Order of the Sinking Star puzzle map
The WikiTactics community map (external site, opens in a new tab)[1] displays 920 puzzles across 78 areas as of October 15, 2026. Its orange dots indicate a solution, grey dots a layout only, and green dots entries you marked solved. These are the reference’s own labels and catalogue counts, not an official total or a validation of its answers.
- Identify the area before the number. “The Mirror Isles” and “Heroes and Mirrors” are different lists. Use the area label and entrance positions to narrow the search.
- Compare the starting board. Match the hero type, island outline, number of mirrors or stones and exit location. Undo or reset may leave a different current state; compare against the initial layout when possible.
- Read the smallest hint available. Opening a map or area page can expose late-game labels, thumbnails and solutions. Stop before expanding the full solution if a hint is enough.
- If the board differs, stop using the steps. Check whether you opened a demo guide, an original standalone game, another area or a different puzzle. An unmatched solution is not evidence that your game is broken.
Spoiler notice: external maps show later areas and may reveal full answers. This page limits its coverage comparison to named early or mixed areas and does not explain endings or late-game solutions.
Opening-area coverage: where a lookup is most likely to help
The table separates a region from its opening area. A complete Mirror Isles opening list does not imply that every later mirror puzzle is solved.
| Area in the reference | Coverage | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Heroes of Hauling (external site, opens in a new tab)[2] | 22 / 22 | The opening Heroes list has an answer for every listed puzzle. Match the board first. |
| The Mirror Isles (external site, opens in a new tab)[3] | 27 / 27 | Good opening-area coverage; these numbers belong to this reference. |
| Skipping Stones (starting area) (external site, opens in a new tab)[4] | 1 / 3 | A layout without a solution is a coverage gap. It does not mean the puzzle is impossible. |
| Heroes and Mirrors (external site, opens in a new tab)[5] | 30 / 30 | Use this mixed-area list when both systems appear; do not force an opening Mirror Isles solution onto it. |
Method: compare the published solution count with the listed puzzle count on each linked area page. Counts measure availability, not correctness. We opened these references but have not replayed their solutions in the game.

HxB, MxB and Heroes and Light: which list matches?
Start with the pair abbreviations: H means Heroes, M means Mirrors and B means Beamcasters. In the community reference, Heroes and Light is the Heroes/Beamcasters crossover; Reflected Beams is the Mirrors/Beamcasters crossover. Match the area label and initial board as well as the pair.
| Your query | Reference area | Published solutions / entries |
|---|---|---|
| HxB / Heroes and Light | Heroes and Light (external site, opens in a new tab)[6] | 45 / 46 |
| MxB / Mirrors + Beamcasters | Reflected Beams (external site, opens in a new tab)[7] | 17 / 20 |
These are single-reference labels and counts. The reference displays build 25882299 and an October 13 verification label on its Heroes and Light entries; that is the reference’s claim, not testing by this site. Steam’s later October 14 patch includes level and checkpoint changes. If a starting layout or a step differs, stop and record the mismatch instead of forcing the sequence.
Worked early rooms and tool guides
- Heroes of Hauling: two opening boards — complete grouped inputs for two crystals and the crystal hall.
- Mirror Isles: two starter solutions — single- and two-mirror boards, with explicit activation.
- Torc: beam contact and facing.
- Cart, Rod: setup and facing.
Each guide states its scope and source limits. These are not complete solutions for the game.
More mixed-area names in player searches
Community catalogue labels checked October 16, 2026; list identification, not verified routes.
| Area | Recognition check |
|---|---|
| Heroes and Stones, East[9] | Match the East/West suffix; the West list is separate. |
| Heroes and Water, North[10] | Match the exact name; water does not automatically mean Heroes and Stones. |
| Heroes and Artifacts[11] | Identify the carried tool as well as the hero. |
| Stones Illuminated[12] | Use the mixed Stones/beams list, not a starting Stones room number. |
Beams Reflected and Reflected Beams are different labels. Compare the exact name before using the MxB lookup. Advanced and post-Endgame solutions remain outside this page’s promise.
Why a demo or standalone Mirror Isles solution may not match
The Steam description[8] names Alan Hazelden’s Mirror Isles and Skipping Stones to Lonely Homes as foundations for the game. A search for either name can therefore return the original game as well as the Order of the Sinking Star region. The shared name does not establish identical boards.
Likewise, demo videos may number only the puzzles shown by their author. A full-game area list can use another order. Compare the board instead of adding or subtracting a guessed number. In a combined region, the active heroes and abilities are another useful check.
Common questions
Does the map cover all 1,000-plus puzzles?
Its displayed catalogue contains 920 entries. The official marketing count and the community map’s entry count use different scopes; neither proves the missing entries are unsolvable.
Are Skipping Stones solutions available now?
Some are. The starting area lists one solution for three puzzles. “No Stones coverage” is no longer an accurate description, but a complete verified regional walkthrough is still not provided here.
What if a listed solution fails?
Recheck the starting layout and area. If they match, record the step where your state diverges and use the reference’s correction route. For missing objects after a reset, check our dated checkpoint reports.
For an Order of the Sinking Star map lookup, a matching board is more useful than a matching level number. Use the world-order guide if your question is where to go next rather than how to solve one room.
